As previously stated: 35 years down, 35 to go... Well...?? maybe...
After 2 solid years of hard work,
which included the release of the
PAREECE '20/21' CD, branching out
was still a primary element of the quest. Eddie moved on to a collaboration with Danny Mercado in Bergen County, NJ.
I was added to that team one year later.

Paul Beatty
keyboardist - composer - orchestral arranger - producer
The following two calendar years produced one magical moment after another at MMG (Mercado Music Group). The complete, overall approach to every track was given the ultimate, dynamic form of expression. Over 100 new pieces of music were produced & we carried the belief that all of the material would be embraced someday... Eddie ALWAYS wanted to prove that the words 'sophistication', 'musicality' & 'originality' could
once again all be used in the same sentence... I am truly heartbroken that he won't be able to witness that on Earth. But surely know, for a fact, that he will be observing the results from up above... Rest in peace...
A one-time executive at Fine Tune Music & former partner at Mercado Music Group, Paul has composed, arranged & produced several contemporary jazz CDs. In 2008, he delivered 'FORE !', his most dynamic work to date. The effort combined an array of mainstream rhythms in conjunction with his smooth-jazz influences. The 10-track, 51 minute CD received critical acclaim.
'ONE FOR THE ROAD', Paul's 2004 solo jazz/new age release, was a defining moment of his career... The 13-track follow-up to his successful 'BOOKENDS' CD provided a 'tour de force' collection of tasty licks. From the smooth title track opener, right through to the groovin' 'IN TOUCH...' finale, Beatty approached each composition with the utmost of expression. It's a 'journey' of music, which Paul composed via inspirations from a trip to the Southwest. And to spice things up, long-time friend and collaborator Russell Craig checked in to add his vocal dynamics.
Paul Beatty recorded for almost 25 years from his home studio in Whitestone, New York. He has recently relocated to Jackson Heights, the town where he was born. Some of his more significant efforts include a 3.5-year tenure (1989-1993) as a full-time musical producer for Esquire Records (Huntington Station, NY). While there, he went on to produce more than 200 compositions. 75 of them in 1992 alone. In July of 1995 he had the opportunity to produce his first professional motion picture soundtrack for the short-film, 'BEYOND REASON'. Private screenings were held later that year at Robert DeNiro's Tribeca Film Center, NYC. The production was so well received that a full-length version of the film (renamed 'INTERVENTION') was eventually completed in October of 2003. Paul also provided the score for that feature, which played at numerous film festivals throughout the United States. It won the 'Best In Show' & 'Best Drama' awards at the 2004 Philadelphia Video Festival. The commercial stage is also no stranger to Paul: July of 1999 saw him produce several musical beds for the FLEISCHMANN'S YEAST national ad campaign via PBS. In the spring of 2000, he created jingles for a series of ads for EXPRESSWAY OIL LUBE CENTERS in Westchester, New York. Also in 2000 he began an affiliation with Joseph Grau's HYPERSPACE PICTURES. There, he would go on to produce musical themes for future animated productions including the award winning stop-animation short film, 'THE HAPPY PRINCE'. And for icing on the cake, that year was highlighted with the release of 'BOOKENDS'. In 2005, another brand new 14-track CD entitled 'INITIAL CONTACT' was released with partner Russell Craig. This 'vocal heavy' compilation shows off even another angle to Paul's versatility as a supporting musician. "There is a professional work ethic that needs to be achieved & I will always go for it," says Paul. Although a late bloomer for the piano (beginning practice of the keyboard at age 15), he has certainly made up for the lost time. A veteran of more than 600 live performances (& literally thousands of hours of production time) helped to iron out the wrinkles.
I am continuing to recognize the sudden and untimely passing of Edwin Cabrera on April 6th, 2018.
At only the age of 48, he was taken from us much too soon.
After initially crossing paths at a mutual job in NYC (2005), we became friends & realized our musical interests & opinions were quite compatible. Shortly thereafter,
in early 2007, I joined his team
(Beat Bodega Productions). By 2009,
Fine Tune Music was born & we were working full-time from our newly built musical production facility in Whitestone, NY.
